So Near, yet So Far

I still remember the days when as a child,
Seeing the sky, my thoughts used to turn wild,
The moon is so near, I wanted to touch,
Climbing stairs after stairs, with a stick in the clutch.

Ah! but that moon, never came any closer,
But the dream to touch it never got over,
For the mind of that child, it was bizarre,
Why the moon is so near, yet so far.

In your love my darling, my heart is child again,
The heart is playing tricks with this crazy brain,
You are that moon, that I want to touch,
'Coz I love you, God only knows how much.

To meet you, I have travelled miles,
With a tired body, I have tried to smile,
But, like that moon, you are always far,
In the same city, so near, but yet so far.

I have climbed up and up, in ages of life,
Have seen many times, the same childhood strife,
To touch the moon, is an undying desire,
And, yet I play with the heart's fire.

Why the moon is still so near, yet so far?
Why there is love, even after so many scars?
I want to touch you, and wipe those marks,
But, why our hearts are near, but still so far?
