Having lost his zamindar father, at a age so young,
His mother, a penniless widow, helped him grow strong,
He adorned the chair of Prime Minister of India,
“Jai Jawan, Jai Kishan” was is unifying media.
Deeply impressed by the Mahatma, he joined freedom movement,
Simplicity was his motto, even in greatest achievement,
He always stayed deeply rooted to the ground,
Ego never touched, his mind's sacred compound.
Breaking way from the legacy, of socialistic policies,
He started central planning, with his focused abilities,
Promoting the “White” and then “Green” revolution,
Boosted country’s economy, with domestic production.
A champion of the champions, in public service,
Standing tall amongst the country’s political debris,
In Tashkent, he died, in an unsolved mystery,
But, always will be remembered in Nation’s history.
