मैं, एक शब्द (Word, Must I become)

है काश के मैं कुछ बन पाउँ, तो शब्द कोई एक बन जाऊँ

तेरे लफ्जों के दरमियान आ पाउँ, तेरे अधरों को मैं छू पाउँ

और बोले जब तु मुझको तो, तेरे लब से गिरके जी जाऊँ

है काश के मैं कुछ बन पाउँ, तो शब्द कोई एक बन जाऊँ ।

जो सपने तेरे आँखो में है, जब तुम उनको लिखना चाहो

तो कलम से मोती सा कोई, मैं कागज पे बिखर जाऊँ

और सपनों के तेरे सुन्दर महल का, छोट सा ईंट मैं बन पाउँ

है काश के मैं कुछ बन पाउँ, तो शब्द कोई एक बन जाऊँ ।

एक शब्द जो यूँ नि:शब्द रहे, और कंठ तेरे इसमे अर्थ भरे

जब तेरा नाम जुड़ जाये, तो शब्द वो सारे दर्द हरे

तेरी साँस चले तो जिन्दा रहूँ, तेरे नाम से मैं यूँ जुड़ जाऊँ

है काश के मैं कुछ बन पाउँ, तो शब्द कोई एक बन जाऊँ ।

एक शब्द ऐसा जो खुद में ही, तेरा हाल बयाँ मैं कर पाउँ

तेरी खुशियों में मैं मुस्कुराऊँ, और गम में आँसु बन जाऊँ

होंठो पे तेरे जो गीत हो, उसके बोलों में मैं ही आऊँ

है काश के मैं कुछ बन पाउँ, तो शब्द कोई एक बन जाऊँ ।

Word, Must I become.

If I ever can become something,

A word, must I become.

So, by falling to death from your lips, as you speak,

In death, immortal, must I become.

When you sit to ink your dreams, on paper,

I must trickle like pearls from your pen and get scattered,

And when brick by brick you build the house of your dream,

A small brick, must I become.

If I ever can become something,

A word, must I become.

A word, that stays silent otherwise,

With no existence and no size,

But, when it gets the warm touch of your throat

A meaning full word, must I become.

If I ever can become something,

A word, must I become.

A word, that stays colourless otherwise,

With no colour to show, nothing as prize,

But, when your name is added to it,

A rainbow of love, must I become.

If I ever can become something,

A word, must I become.

A word, that in itself,

Is enough to express your existence,

And when you want to smile,

The curve on your lips, I must become.

If I ever can become something,

A word, I must become.
